This past year Penelope turned 7 and for her birthday party she wanted it to be Minecraft themed! We had a Minecraft birthday party for Kiara several years ago, so I kind of had an idea of what we would do.
I have always enjoyed making fun things for the kids birthday parties. So off to the inter web and Pinterest I went to start looking for food and cake ideas.
So I made a list of everything I wanted to make and I did a pre-run with a couple of cakes the week before. I am no professional cake decorator, so I am really glad I did this ahead of time because the one I was originally trying to make for her turned out awful! So onto cake number two. That one turned out much better. Here are the ones I ended up making for the party:

I thought they turned out pretty good! We just used some of Penelope’s little Minecraft figurines, like these ones here, to top the cake.
Now if you have a kid who likes Minecraft and wants a Minecraft birthday party, then I say go for it! There are SO many different ideas and fun things you can do with this type of party. The game it self has so many different items in it, it can be so fun recreating them into little food items for a party! So here is what we ended up making for the party:
I made cookies for the cookies, cut up some twizzlers for the tnt, and used rolos for the gold.
I used carrots for the carrots, oreo balls for coal, and Cheez-Its for trap doors.
For the red stone I used cut up strawberries, green grapes for the slime balls, and watermelon for the melon.
For the pork we made bacon wrapped little smokies, used pretzel sticks for sticks, and cheese cubes for the cheese.
J.C. made rice krispy treats and I cut them up into little cubes for sand and we used blue jello for the water.
And then for pizza, we used pizza.
I also made some Italian beef for Italian beef sandwiches for the adults, because who doesn’t love Italian beef! This is the recipe I use if you want to try it!
If you are wondering what I used for the food signs, J.C. just found the pictures off of the internet. We printed them and cut them to fit on an index card. We glued them on the index card and folded it 1/3 of the way to make it stand up. Super easy!
This party was pretty fun. I can’t wait until the next one!
